Eating a vegan meal at Pei Wei can be tricky, but it’s doable. And no, we’re not talking about their salads.
The tricky part about eating vegan at Pei Wei is hunting down the ingredients list for their menu items.
Weirdly enough, this fast-casual chain only offers an ingredients list for five entrees on their Wei It Forward page. Unfortunately, only one of them can be customized to be made vegan.
*sigh*
At least it’s something.
In this article, we’ll review the Honey-Seared dish and what options to choose to make the meal vegan.

Pei Wei’s Honey-Seared Tofu and Vegetables Dish
Surprisingly, Pei Wei’s Honey Sauce doesn’t contain any honey. Weird to name a meal after an ingredient that it doesn’t contain, but hey, I’m rollin’ with it.
Honey Sauce Ingredients
Here’s the ingredients list for their Honey Sauce:
INGREDIENTS: Honey Sauce (Sugar, Sake Wine, Water, Distilled Vinegar, Soy Sauce [Water, Wheat, Soybeans, Salt].

Safe to say, their Honey Sauce is bee-free! 😋
Next, we’ll look at the full ingredients list for their Honey-Seared dish.

You’ll notice that I’ve bolded the words in the ingredients list that are animal products. Since this order is to be made with either Tofu & Vegetables or just Vegetables, there’s no need to ask to remove these ingredients.
Four Ways to Veganize the Honey-Seared Dish

- Honey-Seared Tofu & Vegetables With White Rice
- Honey-Seared Tofu & Vegetables With Brown Rice (pictured above)
- Honey-Seared Tofu & Vegetables With Heritage Mixed Greens
- Honey-Seared Tofu & Vegetables With Lettuce Cups
Personally, I like Honey-Seared Tofu & Vegetables with either white or brown rice.
Update: I found Pei Wei’s updated nutrition info page. It’s in PDF format, and it lists all of their food offerings and even has common dietary restrictions/allergens listed, such as:
- Egg
- Fish
- Dairy
- Peanuts
- Shellfish
- Soy
- Tree Nuts
- Wheat
You can check each food item to see if this dish contains any of the above ingredients.
